Inherently Safe, Seal-Less Cryogenic Pumping

The cryogenic submersible pump is designed with the motor and pump body fully immersed in the cryogenic liquid being pumped. This configuration eliminates the shaft seal, which is a potential leak point in traditional pumps, providing a high level of safety for flammable or hazardous fluids like LNG. The motor stator and rotor are cooled directly by the surrounding liquid, removing the need for an external cooling system and increasing overall efficiency.

The motor is integrated with the pump in a single vertical unit, with the motor winding and rotor directly exposed to the cryogenic liquid. The liquid provides both cooling and lubrication for the bearings. The compact, direct-coupled arrangement eliminates the need for a coupling. The impeller is either closed or semi-open type, precision-machined on five-axis equipment, with bearings and thrust balancing systems validated for long-term cryogenic service.

Flow rates for this pump range from 0.5 m³/h up to 2,500 m³/h, with heads up to 2,600 meters. It can be installed in two configurations: immersed inside storage tanks for in-tank service, or suspended in vacuum-insulated vessels. Both arrangements accommodate various tank types. The pump undergoes full performance testing on our in-house cryogenic test bench, where we test flow, head, NPSH, vibration, noise, and insulation resistance.
