Product Introduction

The Primary Refrigeration Source for Air Separation

The air separation turbo expander is the cornerstone of any air separation unit (ASU). It is the primary source of the refrigeration needed to achieve the cryogenic temperatures required for the distillation of liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, and liquid argon. The efficiency of this expander has a direct impact on the overall energy consumption and product output of the entire plant.

Designed for Oil-Free, Cryogenic Operation

The air separation turbo expander uses a high-efficiency radial turbine with an impeller precision-machined from high-strength aluminum alloy. The bearings are aerodynamic journal bearings, which are validated for cryogenic service. This design ensures oil-free operation, which is an absolute requirement to prevent contamination of the air separation products. The expander reliably operates across a temperature range of -196°C to -20°C and handles pressure differentials from 0.5 MPa to 10 MPa.

Versatile Braking Options for Energy Management

Depending on the specific ASU configuration and energy recovery needs, we offer the air separation turbo expander with various braking options. These include fan braking, electric braking, or compressor braking. This flexibility allows the expander to be integrated seamlessly into the plant's energy management system.

Performance and Customization

Flow rates for the air separation turbo expander range from 0.5 m³/h up to 500 m³/h. The specific impeller diameter and rotational speed are selected and calculated based on the gas composition and the required inlet and outlet pressures to ensure the best possible expansion efficiency and cooling effect.

Engineering and After-Sales Support

We have extensive experience in supplying air separation equipment. Each expander undergoes mechanical running and aerodynamic performance tests before shipment. The lead time for a custom-engineered expander is approximately 32 weeks. After delivery, we provide installation guidance, commissioning support, maintenance training, and a reliable supply of spare parts as specified in the contract to support the continuous operation of your ASU.
